Some players in the Super Eagles squad are reportedly unhappy about unpaid bonuses, reduced allowances and poor welfare overall from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Nigeria are fresh off their first two games of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They defeated Madagascar 2-1 in Nigeria before falling to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau last week.

In the aftermath of the game, the players and coach Eric Chelle complained about the quality of the pitch, which in truth looked very bad.

The international break is now over, and the players have returned to their clubs as club football resumes across the world. However, it appears things weren’t totally well with the players when they were in camp.

According to a report by Sports Village Square, they were not paid their bonus for the third place match against Egypt at the AFCON 2027. Although they were paid the bonuses and other allowances for the previous games, the bonus from that Egypt game is still outstanding.

Also, they are unhappy about the fact that the NFF reduced their allowances without any information. This just happened in the games against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

What Are The Other Issues Super Eagles Are Complaining About?

Aside from the money problems, the Super Eagles players have other issues. They are also said to be unhappy due to what they perceived to be the NFF’s poor approach to welfare.

They were uncomfortable with the quality of the pitch in Guinea-Bissau last time out and had a dressing room protest just before the game.

Some of the Super Eagles players do not like the inadequate logistics and is described as poor travel arrangements.

Although as of yet, none of the players has come out to air out their grievances, if the current situation persists, the players might take a different approach.
