Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto, Isa Sadiq Achida, has tackled former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, as lacking a solid political base in the state.
In an interview, Achida claimed that the ex-governor’s rise to power was largely dependent on political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, in 2015.
The APC chairman also described his eight-year administration as “an era of stagnation and asset stripping.”
He alleged that Tambuwal had deliberately refused to formally hand over to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to avoid being recorded as leaving behind “a state riddled with abandoned projects.”
Achida claimed that Tambuwal’s actions were aimed at frustrating the current administration but maintained that Governor Aliyu has so far demonstrated prudent
financial management and accountability.
