The Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Sunday Marshal Katung, has dismissed speculation that he is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Midat Joseph, Katung reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP, stressing that he remains a full-fledged member of the opposition party.
“As of today, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung is a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was elected on the platform of the PDP and remains dedicated to upholding the mandate given to him by the good people of Kaduna South Senatorial District,” the statement read.
The media office emphasised that while politics is often dynamic, any decision of such magnitude would be communicated officially and transparently by the Senator himself, not through “clandestine speculation.”
It added that the rumors were a needless distraction from Katung’s primary focus of effective representation, legislative excellence, and attracting developmental projects to Southern Kaduna.
“We urge the media, our esteemed constituents, and the general public to disregard these unfounded speculations,” the statement concluded.
