The Senate Committee on Army has commended the Special Forces of Operation HADIN KAI for their successful counter-terrorism operation in Kukawa, Borno State, which resulted in the elimination of Amir Abu Fatima, a high-profile Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, alongside several of his associates.

Amir Abu Fatima, who carried a ₦100 million bounty, was one of the most wanted terrorist leaders in the region.

His removal from the battlefield marks a major win in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the North East and significantly disrupts the command structure of the terrorist network.

The Committee, led by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, praised the operation for its precision, planning, and professionalism, especially the fact that it was achieved without any Nigerian military casualties.

“This operation is a clear demonstration of the courage and effectiveness of our armed forces. It proves once again that Nigeria’s military has the capacity, intelligence, and resolve to dismantle terrorism and protect our people,” said Senator Yar’adua.

He urged the military to maintain the momentum and continue aggressive operations against remaining terrorist elements, noting that sustained pressure is key to achieving long-term peace in the region.

The Senate Committee on Army reaffirmed its full support for the Nigerian Army and pledged continued collaboration to ensure troops are well-equipped, well-trained, and properly motivated to carry out their missions.
