The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has extended a free clinical separation to Kano-born two-year-old conjoined twins, a lifeline opportunity for the little children to live.
The two female conjoined kids, Hassan and Husaina Isa, were born with joined chest and share vital organs. Incidentally, the first two delivery of the triplets suffered the medical condition, as the third child, Hauwa came off the womb without medical complications.
The babies found solace through the King Salman bin AbdulAziz humanitarian Aid and Relief centre (KSARelief), which accepted to offer them surgical attention for the separation at AbdulAziz medical city, Riyadh.
The 33-year-old mother of the triplets, Suiaba Bashir, was full of gratitude to the Saudi authority for the rare opportunity. In an emotion-laden words, Suiaba said she is most gladened to know that her two years agony will finally come to an end.
The KSARelief team, which arrived Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano yesterday with a private Saudi Medical aircraft, airlifted the triplets and their parents to Saudi.
Speaking before their departure, Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who handed over the conjoined babies to leader of the medical team, applauded the gesture of the custodian of the two Holy Mosque of King Salman bin AbdulAziz.
Yusuf said the state will forever remain grateful for Saudi’s intervention and pledged his administration’s commitment to cement existing tie between the Kingdom and Kano.
Earlier, the Saudi Arabia press Attache to Saudi embassy, in Nigeria, Mohammad Alsahabi told journalists that King Salman humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre which was established in 2015 has rendered assistance to vulnerable people in 94 countries through more than 2,500 various projects.
Alsahabi explained that the conjoined twins will undergo thorough medical evaluation by team of medical experts include pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses already assembled to oversee the entire process.
” The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been at the forefront of providing international humanitarian aid and is internationally recognized as one of the key countries responding to humanitarian crisis. Over the years the Kingdom’s leaders have followed all the internationally accepted principles of neutrality, impatiality and universality in their provision of humanitarian assistance.
“Saudi Arabia has given a great deal of attention to the health care needs of many other countries, including the unique Saudi conjoined twins programme. Since it’s inception in 1990, this programme has reviewed 133 sets of conjoined twins referred from 24 countries and 59 sets of twins have been successfully separated by the Saudi programme”. Alsahabi noted.
