The Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has extended condolences to the Federal Government over the death of late President General Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari died Sunday afternoon at a London hospital after a protracted illness. The remains of the late head of state are due to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday for burial at his home country, Daura, Katsina state.
In a condolence message released by the Royal Embassy in Abuja, the custodian of the two holy mosques, regretted the passage of the former Nigerian President.
“His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and son, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a cable of condolences and sympathy to the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the embassy said.
“HRH the Crown Prince expressed deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the president, the Nigerian people, and the family of the deceased.”
Late Buhari made his last visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in April 2023 to perform the lesser pilgrimage a few days before the expiration of his eight years in office.
Nigeria, under the leadership of former President Buhari, had enjoyed a smooth bilateral relationship with Saudi authorities and sustainable diplomatic benefits for both countries.
