Leaders of the All Progressives Congress have called on the National Assembly to assume legislative powers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, citing a deepening constitutional crisis in the state. The APC Leaders Forum described the impeachment attempt against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy as baseless and politically motivated, accusing lawmakers loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike of abusing legislative powers.

2. ‘I’m Not for Sale,’ Kwankwaso declares after NNPP crisis
Former presidential candidate and NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has declared that he would not trade his political principles for personal gain following reports of defections linked to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf. Speaking to supporters in Kano, Kwankwaso said his political journey has always been about serving ordinary Nigerians, not personal enrichment.

3. Kano gov’s aide resigns amid NNPP fallout
A Special Adviser to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Sunusi Kwankwaso, has resigned following reports that the governor exited the NNPP. In a video statement, the aide said his resignation was prompted by expectations that Yusuf would defect to the APC.

4. CBN plans new debit card policy to tackle ATM congestion
The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced plans to introduce new rules regulating debit card issuance and ATM deployment by banks. According to the apex bank, the policy will align the number of cards issued with available ATM infrastructure to reduce congestion, downtime, and cash shortages.

5. Over 13,000 Nigerians repatriated from 10 countries in three years
No fewer than 13,635 stranded Nigerians were repatriated from 10 countries between 2023 and 2025, data from official agencies and international organisations have shown. The evacuations were carried out from countries including Libya, Sudan, Niger Republic, Ghana, and the UAE.

6. I’m happiest in the classroom — Emir Sanusi
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has said he finds his greatest fulfilment in learning and teaching, describing education as a lifelong process. Sanusi, who recently resumed classes as a 200-level Law student at Northwest University, Kano, said the programme marks his third bachelor’s degree.
