The House of Representatives has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed National Assembly Infrastructure and Property Agency (Establishment) Bill, 2025 (HB. 2072), as part of ongoing legislative efforts to institutionalize infrastructure development and maintenance within the legislature.

The hearing is being convened by the House Committee on House Services and is expected to draw participation from stakeholders, civil society organisations, professional bodies, development partners, the media, and the general public.

According to a statement posted by the official handle of the House of Representatives on Monday morning, the bill seeks to establish an independent agency that would be responsible for the construction, development, and maintenance of National Assembly infrastructure and properties.

The committee chairman, Rep. Amos Daniel (PDP, Kaduna), stated that the hearing reflects the inclusive and participatory approach of the 10th Assembly to lawmaking. “We believe that hearing from a diverse range of stakeholders will enrich the legislative process and ensure that the outcome reflects the best interests of the Nigerian people,” he said.

The hearing is scheduled to take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Conference Hall 0.28 in the new House of Representatives building within the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD., GCON, is expected to formally declare the hearing open.

The proposed legislation is aligned with the Assembly’s goal of enhancing legislative autonomy and improving operational efficiency through a structured approach to managing physical assets.

Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., the official spokesman of the House of Representatives, signed the invitation, encouraging members of the public to attend and engage with the process.
