Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi could leave Marseille in January, according to a Get French Football News report relayed by Afrik-Foot on 19 October.

Nnadi, 23, joined Marseille from Zulte Waregem for €6m in the winter window. He made eight appearances in his first half-season in France.

The report says the coach does not regard him as indispensable, so he could be sold or loaned out.

Why Marseille might need to sell

Afrik-Foot adds that Marseille face scrutiny from the DNCG, French football’s club-finance watchdog, after failing to meet its financial requirements in June. It says the club must balance its books before June 2027, and that failure could bring points deductions.

Afrik-Foot also notes that interested clubs may balk at a high valuation, so a loan cannot be ruled out.

What his recent minutes show

When Nnadi did start, at Angers in a 5-2 Marseille win, it was because of injuries. Afrik-Foot’s numbers from that game: two key passes, 58 touches and five duels won.

Analysis: sale or loan, the minutes matter most to Nigeria

If Marseille need to raise money, a sale does more for the books than a loan. If buyers will not meet the price, a loan keeps him on Marseille’s books while he plays elsewhere.

For the Super Eagles, the question is less about the fee than about whether he plays every week wherever he lands, with the November qualifiers against Tanzania coming up. Soccernet has also looked at January situations for Maduka Okoye and Tolu Arokodare.

January will show which way Marseille go.
