Nestlé Nigeria Plc has clarified that its infant formula sold in the country was not included in the voluntary, precautionary recall announced in some foreign markets.
The company said the recall involved specific batches distributed outside Nigeria and did not affect products manufactured or sold by Nestlé Nigeria.
This clarification is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Toju Egbebi.
Egbebi said all Nestlé infant formula products sold locally were officially registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.
According to her, the affected products referenced online or in reports are not supplied to the Nigerian market.
“We would like to reassure consumers that all SMA and NAN product ranges sold by Nestlé Nigeria are safe for consumption,” Egbebi said.
She listed the products as SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2, SMA Gold 3, NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2 and NAN Optipro 3.
Egbebi emphasised that Nestlé Nigeria complies strictly with local and international food safety and quality standards.
“The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, remain our top priorities,” she said.
She urged consumers to rely on verified information and contact Nestlé Nigeria or regulatory authorities for clarification when in doubt.
