The Delta State Police Command has arrested several suspects linked to armed robbery and kidnapping operations across the state.
Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday, disclosing that operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan, CSP Labe Joseph, arrested two suspects on September 12, 2025. The suspects were identified as Elvis Ebroghro, 36, and Abiola Adegore, 34, both residents of Ometan community.
According to Edafe, preliminary investigations showed that the suspects were sighted by a community security guard, Abdullahi Mohammed, while attempting to steal a vehicle battery. When confronted, they allegedly threatened to kill him if he reported the act.
Elvis Ebroghro later confessed to belonging to a criminal syndicate, which led to the arrest of another suspect, Lucky Ebroghro. A follow-up operation also uncovered an AK-47 rifle hidden inside an isolated building in Ometan community.
In a separate case, the police rescued a kidnap victim abducted at his residence in Ogwashi-Uku on September 8, 2025. The victim was reportedly shot in the leg by his abductors, who had already collected a ransom of N2 million before fleeing with his vehicle.
Edafe said Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, deployed the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, to track the kidnappers in the Ogwashi-Uku bush. The victim was rescued with a gunshot injury and taken for medical treatment.
“Intelligence-led investigations thereafter led to the arrest of Chukwuebuka Nka, 25, from Enugu State, and Uche Okechukwu, from Imo State, at Owerri Road, Ndemili North Local Council of Anambra State, where the victim’s white Venza SUV was recovered,” Edafe stated.
He added that another suspect, Somto Chukwuma, 18, from Anambra State, was later arrested at the gang’s hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku. Police also recovered the gang’s operational Toyota Matrix (registration number RRT-331-AE) and a network jammer circuit device.
All suspects are currently in custody, while investigations continue.
