Ekiti State Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the June 20 election, Biodun Oyebanji, will on April 27 officially kick off his re-election campaign, with his team saying the exercise will be issue-based.

The Director-General of the Biodun Oyebanji 2026 Campaign Organisation, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, said the governor was seeking re-election based on his first-term performance and the wishes of the people.

Fasuyi, who spoke at a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, said campaign activities had already commenced at the grassroots level through door-to-door mobilisation.

He said the formal flag-off would take place on April 27 in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission timetable.

“Our objective is for APC to win for Governor Biodun Oyebanji in all the 177 wards of Ekiti State. We are targeting a minimum of 500,000 votes. With discipline and hard work, it is achievable,” Fasuyi said.

Fasuyi said the campaign would focus on the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and governance reforms.

He said Oyebanji had fulfilled the mandate given to him by his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to surpass his performance.

He stated, “Oyebanji accepted the challenge, and the rest is history. He started the work with all his energy immediately after his inauguration. Roads have been fixed across all 16 local government areas and 22 Local Council Development Areas. Our schools have been renovated, teachers get trained, and bursaries restored.

“Health centres now wear a new look, having been comprehensively renovated, well-equipped, and properly staffed. Ekiti is now ranked the most secure state in Nigeria.

“On transparency, Ekiti scored 39 out of 39 in the fourth quarter of 2025 and 100 out of 100 as a Progressive Performer in the fourth quarter of 2024. We topped the 2026 Subnational Audit Efficacy Index. Food inflation in Ekiti is now the lowest in Nigeria.”

He added that the Ekiti Knowledge Zone project was underway, while farm settlements had been revived to boost agriculture.

He said women occupied key positions in government, including Deputy Governor, Deputy Speaker, Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Accountant-General and local government leadership roles.

Fasuyi said the campaign would be driven by all party members across wards and local government areas.

“This campaign is intra-local government, intra-ward, and intra-unit. It must run without rancour. We will market our record and our plan, not abuse opponents,” he added.

He urged party members to avoid violence, adding that the campaign would focus strictly on issue-based engagement.
