Plymouth Argyle attacker Owen Oseni has revealed what getting a call-up to the Nigerian Super Eagles setup ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup means to him, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 23-year-old forward was born in Waterford, Ireland, to a Nigerian father and an Ivorian mother before switching his International allegiance to represent the Green and Whites.
Should he debut in the Unity Cup, Oseni would become the first-ever Ireland-born player to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Owen Oseni elated with Super Eagles call-up
Oseni started 16 of the 27 games he played for the Pilgrims in the just-concluded Sky Bet League One season, leaving Tom Cleverley’s team just two points outside of the play-offs.
Still, his individual turnout of ten goals and three assists saw him included in Chelle’s 27-man squad, and the former St. Mirren is looking forward to blending in with the Nigerian team.
“I know I had an alright season, but to get called up for a country where there’s more than 240 million people and probably 50% want to play for their country was quite a big deal for me so I was really buzzing,” Oseni told BBC Sport.

“The coaches were watching me, obviously they picked up on the form I’d hit just towards the end of the season.
“I’d love to represent any country on a national level. It’s massive for me and my career and Nigeria, the Super Eagles, when they came knocking, it was a decision that I couldn’t turn down.
“I didn’t think there was a possibility that that could happen. All I know is to just work hard and many doors could open, but I definitely didn’t think that I would be one of them,” Oseni concluded.

The Super Eagles kick off their 2026 Unity Cup campaign against Zimbabwe at the Charlton Athletic Valley Stadium next Tuesday.
