Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Wilfred Ndidi will battle for who deserves to be called Nigeria’s best player ahead of the official release of EA Sports FC 27, Soccernet.ng reports.

The three Super Eagles stars offer very different qualities. Osimhen, who is firmly on the radar of Al Hilal, is the powerful striker who can turn one run behind a defence into a goal. Lookman is the quick attacker who can carry the ball, beat defenders and create chances. Ndidi operates in a different part of the pitch, where his job is to win the ball, break up attacks and help his team control midfield.

EA’s FC 27 ratings put Osimhen at the top of this particular battle with an overall rating of 85. Lookman follows at 83, while Ndidi is rated 75. That gives the Galatasaray striker an early advantage, but the overall number does not tell the full story. A striker, winger and defensive midfielder cannot be judged in exactly the same way.

The more interesting question is what each player does best. Arsenal-linked Osimhen has the highest pace and physical rating of the three. Lookman has the best dribbling and passing numbers. Ndidi leads the defensive categories by a wide margin. EA’s numbers therefore set up a closer contest than the overall ratings suggest.

That is where the comparison starts. Looking at each player’s individual attributes first gives a clearer picture of why EA has rated them this way, before putting all three cards side by side to decide who offers the strongest package.

Osimhen has the strongest card, Lookman has the best dribbling

Victor Osimhen is the clear leader of this Nigerian trio. EA gives the Galatasaray striker an 85 overall rating, with 89 pace, 84 shooting, 65 passing, 78 dribbling, 51 defending and 86 physicality. His 89 pace makes him the fastest of the three, while his 86 physical rating is also the best in the group.

Osimhen’s detailed numbers explain why his card is built for direct attacking play. His acceleration is 88 and his sprint speed is 90. His finishing is 88, positioning is 86 and shot power is 86. He also has 85 heading accuracy, 90 jumping and 87 strength. Those numbers make him dangerous when a player wants to attack space, cross the ball or play through a physical striker.

That profile also fits his recent record. Osimhen registered 15 goals and five assists in 22 Süper Lig appearances for Galatasaray as well as seven Champions League goals last season. He helped Galatasaray finish first in the league, giving his FC 27 rating a strong statistical base.

Lookman is two points behind Osimhen at 83 overall, but his card is arguably more fun for players who like to control the ball. EA gives him 86 pace, 83 shooting, 73 passing, 84 dribbling, 32 defending and 68 physicality. His 84 dribbling is the highest of the three.

His detailed attributes make the difference even clearer. Lookman has 89 acceleration, 84 sprint speed, 89 agility, 85 ball control and 84 dribbling. His finishing is 84, positioning is 85 and vision is 80. He can therefore beat a defender with the ball and then create a shooting chance without needing much space.

His recent career also supports that attacking profile. The Atletico Madrid forward recorded nine goals and three assists across Serie A, La Liga and the Champions League in 2025-26.

Wilfred Ndidi sits at 75 overall. His numbers are very different because he is a defensive midfielder. EA gives him 64 pace, 65 shooting, 71 passing, 72 dribbling, 73 defending and 80 physicality.

His detailed card is built around defensive work. Ndidi has 74 interceptions, 74 standing tackle, 71 defensive awareness, 80 stamina, 78 strength and 83 aggression. His short passing is 74 and long passing is 72, which gives him enough quality to move the ball after winning possession.

The head-to-head verdict

The numbers produce a clear split. Osimhen wins the overall battle with an 85 rating. He also wins pace, shooting and physicality among the three. His pace is three points higher than Lookman’s and 25 points higher than Ndidi’s. His shooting matches Lookman’s closely, while Ndidi is far behind.

Lookman takes the dribbling category. His rating is six points above Osimhen’s and above Ndidi’s. He also has the best passing rating, ahead of Ndidi’s and Osimhen’s. That makes Lookman the strongest choice if the game is built around close control, quick changes of direction and attacking combinations.

Ndidi wins the defensive contest by a huge margin. His defending is 22 points above Osimhen’s and 41 above Lookman’s. His physicality also puts him ahead of Lookman, although Osimhen’s is higher.

That leaves three different answers depending on what the player wants. Ndidi is the best defensive midfielder. Lookman is the best dribbler and the most balanced attacking creator. Osimhen, however, is the best Nigerian player overall.

The gap is not only two points between Osimhen and Lookman. Osimhen’s card gives him a stronger combination of pace, finishing, strength, jumping and heading. Lookman has superior ball control and passing, but Osimhen offers more ways to hurt an opponent in the opponent’s danger area.

The final ranking is therefore 1. Victor Osimhen, 85; 2. Ademola Lookman, 83; 3. Wilfred Ndidi, 75. In a Nigerian FC 27 team, Osimhen is the player to build the attack around, Lookman is the creator who can unlock defenders, and Ndidi is the player who gives the team defensive balance. EA’s ratings make Osimhen the clear overall winner, while Lookman and Ndidi dominate the technical and defensive categories that suit their positions.
