Atletico Madrid have taken a major step in their push to sign Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently starring for Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.

Reports from Spain, via BeinSports, say the La Liga side are keen to add a powerful goalscorer to their attack and have already made early contact over a possible move.

Osimhen, one of the most feared forwards in Europe, is believed to be open to the idea of playing in Spain if the right offer is made.

However, Galatasaray are not willing to let their star man leave cheaply. The Turkish champions are said to be asking for at least €100 million before considering any deal. That huge price shows just how highly the club values the 27-year-old after his strong performances this season.

Atletico’s interest will likely fuel the attention of other top clubs across Europe in the former Lille star. Teams from England, Italy and Germany are all watching the situation closely.

Among those linked are Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Atletico are also encouraged after successfully signing Osimhen’s Nigeria teammate Ademola Lookman earlier this year, showing they can attract big African stars.

Even so, Osimhen is still thought to favour a move to the Premier League if a strong offer arrives, with Arsenal also keeping an eye on him.

In the 2025/26 season, Osimhen has played 22 matches in all competitions for Galatasaray, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists. His pace, strength and sharp finishing have made him the club’s main attacking threat.

A return to Italy is another option being talked about, especially with Juventus, where Osimhen could reunite with coach Luciano Spalletti. The pair previously enjoyed huge success together at Napoli, helping the club win their first league title in over three decades.

Barcelona are also searching for a long-term replacement for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, while Bayern Munich could offer Osimhen the chance to make history as the first Nigerian to play for the German giants.

With so many clubs lining up and a massive fee involved, Osimhen’s future looks set to be one of the biggest transfer stories in Europe this summer.
