One person has been confirmed dead while four others sustained injuries in an auto crash that occurred at Laburo Bus Stop, opposite the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The accident, which happened on Tuesday, involved a Toyota Picnic space wagon with registration number BWR 181 BD and a MAN diesel truck with no registration number.
Spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said nine people, five males and four females, were involved in the crash.
He explained that four persons, comprising two men and two women, sustained varying degrees of injuries, while one female passenger died on the spot.
Akinbiyi attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speeding by the driver of the Toyota Picnic, who lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the moving truck from behind.
He added that the injured victims were taken to the RCCG Hospital for treatment, while the deceased’s body was deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH) morgue.
According to him, the accidented vehicles have been towed away by the Mowe Police Division to clear the road and restore the free flow of traffic.
