A member of the House of Representatives representing Abeokuta South Federal constituency, Afolabi Afuape, has emphasised that for the nation to continue on the path of economic recovery and stability, President Bola Tinubu’s administration must be allowed to continue with his selfless leadership beyond 2027.
Afuape said that it is the obvious truth that the nation is no longer where it used to be, courtesy of the courageous economic reforms of President Tinubu, and that it is just appropriate to allow the President consolidate on this solid foundation for the country beyond 2027.
The lawmaker equally urged members of the All Progressives Congress to embrace the ongoing e-registration of the party while also complementing it by also registering for the ongoing voter registration so that they can have the voter card to return the party to power in 2027.
Afuape disclosed this while speaking to journalists on Sunday after visiting his Ward 4, Keesi Itoko, Abeokuta, for a thank-you tour.
The federal lawmaker said, “The truth is that President Bola Tinubu has helped to move this nation forward;, we are no longer where we used to be.
“The courageous economic reforms are already yielding fruits; our economy is recovering very fast from the mismanagement of the past. Things are looking up so brightly for us; a new dawn is here.
“You can see the various infrastructural developments across the country. It goes beyond debating. President Tinubu has done so well, and he unarguably deserves to continue his good job beyond 2027
“I also want to say that the support given by President Tinubu to the members of the House of Representatives is very solid and uncommon, so we need to reciprocate that by mobilising our people to vote again for our party and Mr President come 2027”.
Afuape said that he was only at his Ward 4, Abeokuta South to thank the people for their support and also encourage them to turn out massively for the ongoing e-registration of the party as well as the INEC voter registration.
He explained that “I am actually here to appreciate my people, the people of my ward, for their support for me at all times.
“I appreciate the unprecedented turnout of my people, and it also goes to show that we are also not resting on our oars; we are doing everything within our ability and resources to ensure that the people enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“I am here to tell them that the party’s e-registration is on and I want to encourage everyone of them to go out there and register. Politics remains a game of numbers; the more we are, the better and stronger the party.
“I can’t also afford to do less because my federal constituency is the cradle of civilization, so I can’t afford to bring down the standard. As of today, I have done a lot in terms of empowerment, in terms of motion moved at the House of Representatives.
“I also want to say that the support given by our President, Bola Tinubu, to the members of the House of Representatives is very solid and uncommon. And we need to reciprocate that by mobilising our people to vote again for our party, and Mr President come 2027”.
Aside from participating in the party registration, the lawmaker also urged the party members to ensure that they also go for the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission to have the wherewithal, which is their voter cards, to vote again for the APC in 2027.
Speaking on his 2027 ambition, Afuape disclosed that “My ambition will be determined by the people, though. I hope to go back to the House of Representatives, my people have spoken, but I will also go back to God to also pray that the Lord God Almighty should bless our intentions too”.
The former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state, however, lauded Gov Dapo Abiodun, describing him as a conscientious leader who is providing purposeful leadership for the entirety of the state.
Also speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abiodun on Health, Dr Kehinde Ololade, commended the commitment of the lawmaker to good governance, particularly his unprecedented investment in grassroots empowerment and mobilisation strength.
Dr Ololade urged Afuape to never lose focus and continue to do all that is within his powers and influence to uplift good governance in the state.
He encouraged those who have not registered for their voter’s cards, or who have changed locations or misplaced theirs, to seize the opportunity of the ongoing voter registration to get a new voter’s card and get set to return the ruling party back to power again in 2027
