Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will get a new coach at Nottingham Forest, as the club has confirmed the sacking of Sean Dyche, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Tricky Trees have had a topsy-turvy campaign despite massive investments in the summer.
They started the season with Nuno Espirito Santo, who was looking to repeat his success from last season when he guided the club to a 7th-place finish.
However, he was sacked last September after clashing with club owner Evangelos Marinakis. Subsequently, they appointed Ange Postecoglou to steady the ship. However, he was sacked after just a month due to a poor run of results.
Then, the Tricky Trees appointed Dyche in October. He secured some decent results initially, but the club has since tailed off, struggling to find consistency.
Since Dyche took over as coach, the Tricky Trees have won six games, drawn four, and lost eight.
In recent weeks, pressure had been piling on the English tactician. But Nottingham Forest finally decided to part ways with him on Wednesday, following their goalless draw against relegation-bound Wolverhampton Wanderers.
This was confirmed via an official release on the club’s social media platforms.
What Dyche’s Exit Means For Taiwo Awoniyi & Ola Aina At Nottingham Forest?
Sean Dyche leaves Nottingham Forest in 17th place, just three points above West Ham, who sit third from bottom.
Usually, when a new coach takes over at a club, there is a tactical reset. That shift could affect Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi moving forward.
Aina is the mainstay at left-back for the Tricky Trees, as he has consistently delivered for the team when fit. It is highly unlikely that he will lose his place in the side.
Taiwo Awoniyi, however, might face a tougher challenge. He has struggled with recurring injuries and has consequently lost his place in the starting eleven.
With Chris Wood also dealing with fitness issues, Igor Jesus has become the preferred option. Furthermore, there is Lorenzo Lucca, who is also competing for a spot in the lineup.
If Awoniyi does not impress the incoming manager, he might find himself as the third-choice striker, which invariably means limited minutes.
The Tricky Trees are expected to announce a new coach soon, and the Super Eagles stars will be hoping the appointment favors their prospects.
