Official: Club Brugge-linked Abdullahi Bewene signs five-year contract

Super Eagles player Abdullahi Bewene has signed a fresh contract as transfer speculation continues to intensify, Soccernet.ng reports.

​The dynamic 21-year-old midfielder joined Banik Ostrava two years ago, rising through the ranks to establish himself as a regular first-team player last season.

​During his time at the Czech club, he has earned a reputation as a high-octane midfielder capable of influencing the game at both ends of the pitch. He is also adept at filling in at right-back.

​His impressive club performances earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles squad from coach Eric Chelle in June.

​Following a standout campaign, exit rumors surfaced, with Slavia Prague, Gent, and Club Brugge among the clubs reportedly interested.

​However, Bewene’s suitors may have to wait until next summer, as Banik Ostrava have moved quickly to secure his future and fend off immediate interest.

​Abdullahi Bewene Signs Long-Term Contract

​On Wednesday, Banik Ostrava confirmed that Bewene has signed a five-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2031.

​This level of commitment is unusual for Banik Ostrava, as clubs of their stature in the Czech Republic rarely hand out deals of such length.

​Following Bewene’s extension, Banik Ostrava’s head of sports expressed his satisfaction, emphasizing that the club views the Super Eagles star as a top-tier prospect.

​”Bewene is one of the players with whom we have recently recorded very interesting performance progress,” Ludek Miklosko said.

​”In his case, we are also convinced that he has not yet reached his ceiling. He has the parameters for top-level football, and by extending his contract, we are ensuring continued cooperation with a player who has the potential to be very important for Baník in the coming seasons.

​”I believe that with this long-term contract for a player who was in great demand on the market, we are showing our ambitions for the future,” Mikloško added.

​Bewene is currently valued at €850,000 on Transfermarkt, but his market value is expected to rise if he maintains his fine form. The new Czech Liga season is already underway, and he has featured in two games so far.
