The National Youth Council of Nigeria has urged qualified and motivated young Nigerians to apply for the African Union Digital & Innovation Fellowship 2026/2027, a 12-month programme.

In an announcement released by the NYCN’s Director of Digital Literacy and Innovation, Tope Peter, on Wednesday, the council highlighted that the fellowship offers a unique opportunity for youths to contribute meaningfully to digital transformation, data-driven decision-making, and innovation within AU institutions.

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of $2,500, equipment support of up to $800, a learning budget of $500, and access to bootcamps and an international delegation trip. Interested candidates are expected to submit applications by March 2026 via https://enpact.org/au-digital-innovation-fellowship-positions.

“Applications are open to passionate young Nigerians ready to grow, lead, and make impact within African Union institutions,” the statement read, signed by Benjamin Onileowo, NYCN’s Spokesperson.

The AU Digital & Innovation Fellowship currently offers positions across 12 specialised technical tracks, including Data Analytics & Monitoring Systems, Digital Product & Programme Systems, Digital Communications, ERP SAP and Business Intelligence, Full-Stack Development, and HR Digital Systems and Processes, among others.

Each position provides fellows with the chance to support critical projects such as improving digital infrastructure, developing interactive dashboards, modernising human capital systems, and automating workflows to enhance operational efficiency.

The programme is hosted by the African Union and implemented by enpact, with support from the GIZ DataCipation program, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

NYCN encourages applicants to carefully review the terms of reference for each fellowship position and submit applications aligned with their professional skills and career goals. Inquiries can be directed to +234 701 431 2797.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to empower African youth with skills, exposure, and opportunities to influence policy and innovation at a continental level.
