Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State and the Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his significant contributions to strengthening democratic values in Nigeria.
In separate Democracy Day statements obtained in Abakaliki, Governor Nwifuru described June 12 as a symbolic moment of triumph and sacrifice, celebrating the enduring will of Nigerians to shape their destiny through democratic means.
He praised President Tinubu’s “sterling leadership”, citing deliberate reforms across key sectors, efforts to uphold the rule of law, promote transparency, and empower institutions under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Mr. President has continued to demonstrate a matchless commitment to consolidating democracy,” Nwifuru said. “The deepening of good governance and the entrenchment of democratic ideals have given hope to the people.”
He described June 12 as a testament to the courage of the Nigerian electorate and paid tribute to the heroes and heroines of democracy who laid down their lives for a just, equitable nation.
The Governor also highlighted Tinubu’s policies, including subsidy removal, as reflections of true federalism and a commitment to economic transformation and national unity. He expressed gratitude to the National Assembly and Judiciary for their roles in sustaining democratic governance.
“In Ebonyi State, we draw inspiration from Mr. President’s leadership,” Nwifuru said.
“Our People’s Charter of Needs is a social contract anchored on transparency, inclusivity, and justice. It drives our policies in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and human capital development.”
Also speaking, Hon. Euphemia Nwali praised both President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru for their positive impact on national and state governance.
She expressed delight in joining the people of Ezza South and Ebonyi to celebrate the 26th anniversary of democracy in Nigeria, emphasising that citizens are experiencing real transformation under the current administration.
“Your commitment to the People’s Charter of Needs and delivery of democratic dividends has truly made a difference,” Nwali said. “Our people feel represented and hopeful for the future.”
