The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) in the state.
State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, represented by the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, made this pledge during a peer learning and experiential sharing dialogue organised by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria.

The event, themed “From Experience to Impact: Strengthening GBV Prevention through Shared Learning,” focused on fostering impactful strategies against GBV.

Keshinro emphasised the command’s zero tolerance for GBV cases reported within the state, stating that proactive measures, including awareness campaigns, collaborations, strategic communication, arrests, and transparent interrogation processes, would continue to be prioritised.
FIDA Ikeja Chairperson Veronica Eze underscored the importance of the ongoing discourse in creating sustainable and impactful strategies to address GBV at the grassroots and sub-national levels.

The event featured three panel sessions with stakeholders from traditional institutions, religious organisations, and state actors contributing to the discussions.

Prominent attendees included Chief Magistrate Osunsani Bio from the Lagos State Judiciary, Mrs Alain Olafiasayo, Deputy Director of Welfare at WAPA, and Dr Grace Abolarin, Director of Child Guidance, School Counselling, and Special Education at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

Moderators for the sessions were Mrs Rita Abah Lasoju, National Assistant Manager of Programmes and Partnerships, and Mr Fikih Obaro, Senior Manager of Programmes, Partnerships, and Operations, both from FIDA Nigeria.
