The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has announced plans to reach at least three million Nigerians daily in its third-quarter nationwide sensitisation campaign.

Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, disclosed this during a press conference in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Wednesday. He was represented by Mrs. Margaret Yenemi.

Issa-Onilu said the campaign would focus on five thematic areas, including government policies and programmes, flooding and disaster management, national value reorientation for students (particularly against extreme “sign-out” practices), national security awareness, and the Nigerian identity project and national symbols.
“In these five areas of concern, we intend to sensitise three million Nigerians daily during the campaign,” he stated.

The DG explained that NOA has expanded its messaging platforms to meet the needs of diverse audiences across the country.
“In the current dispensation, we have reinvigorated our website http://www.noa.gov.ng and deployed an artificial intelligence persona, CLHEEAN, on our site. This, in addition to our presence on all social media platforms, has enabled us to meet the information needs of especially the younger generation,” he said.

He added that the agency has been consistent with the production of its Weekly Explainer e-journal, which breaks down government programmes and policies into simple language, and has deployed robust re-orientation documentaries and jingles across over 185 media partners, including radio stations broadcasting in local languages.
“In the next couple of weeks, the agency will be physically engaging the public in the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and the 774 local government areas. This ‘boots-on-the-ground’ approach is aimed at enabling citizens to speak their minds to government, ask questions, and get clarity on government programmes and policies,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, NOA State Director in Kogi, Patrick Edogbanya Yusuf, said the campaign will run simultaneously and continuously throughout the third quarter, with a particular focus on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
