Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has taken to social media to mock former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher following his derogatory remark on the Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.

Carragher has been under a lot of fire in the past week following his comments about the AFCON. The former Liverpool man insinuated that the African showpiece is a small tournament when asked how it could affect Mohamed Salah’s chances of winning the Balon d’Or.

Many past and present African players have spoken up about the issues, with most of them throwing jibes at the former Liverpool man.

Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi was highly critical of him in his remark as he hurled some strong words at Carragher. Even Jay-Jay Okocha was not left out.

The latest Nigerian to join the trend is former Super Eagles player Emenike, who won the AFCON in 2013 and carted home the highest goalscorer award. The retired 37-year-old striker took to Instagram to mock and take digs at Carragher.

Aside from winning the AFCON, Emenike had a very good career as he won the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Super Cup.

For Carragher, he has been sitting on a keg of gunpowder since he became a football analyst. He has often gotten knocks due to some of his controversial takes, but this is the first time he will be getting this kind of backlash.
