The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted a mix of sunshine and cloudiness across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.

NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Monday in Abuja, forecast a sunny atmosphere over the northern region throughout the day on Tuesday.

According to the outlook, the central region is expected to experience few patches of clouds with a hazy atmosphere, while isolated thunderstorms are possible over parts of southern Kwara later in the day.

“For the southern region, sunny skies with a few patches of clouds are anticipated, with prospects of thunderstorms accompanied by light rains over parts of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Imo, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Rivers States in the afternoon and evening period,” it stated.

NiMet further predicted sunny conditions over the northern region throughout Wednesday, with few patches of clouds and a hazy atmosphere over the North Central region.

Isolated thunderstorms and light rains are expected over parts of southern Kogi, southern Benue, and Kwara states later in the day.

Sunny skies with a few patches of clouds are also forecast for the southern region, with prospects of thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Rivers States.

On Thursday, NiMet envisaged a sunny atmosphere over the northern region, with few patches of clouds and slim prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Kwara State in the morning.

The southern region is expected to experience sunny skies with a few patches of clouds and isolated thunderstorms with light rains over parts of Bayelsa and Cross River States in the afternoon and evening.

“Dust particles are in suspension; the public should take necessary precautions. People with asthma or other respiratory conditions should be cautious of the current weather,” the agency advised.

“Driving under rain should be done with caution. Airline operators are advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.

“Residents are encouraged to stay informed through regular weather updates on our website, www.nimet.gov.ng,” the statement concluded.
