The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast a combination of rainy and sunny weather conditions across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday, the agency predicted sunny skies over the northern region on Monday morning, with chances of thunderstorms later in the day.
It also projected moderate rainfall over parts of Taraba and Adamawa States.
NiMet said isolated thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rains are expected in parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba States during the afternoon or evening hours.
For the North-Central region, the agency anticipated a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms and moderate rains over Niger, Kogi, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It added that thunderstorms with moderate rains are likely later in the day over parts of Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Niger, Nasarawa and the FCT.
In the southern region, NiMet envisaged cloudy conditions in the morning with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rains over parts of Abia, Enugu, Edo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
It further predicted isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains later in the day across several southern states, including Oyo, Ebonyi, Osun, Ekiti, Anambra, Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta and Lagos.
On Tuesday, sunny skies are expected over the northern region in the morning, with chances of thunderstorms and moderate rains over Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba States later in the day.
The North-Central region will experience cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine in the morning, while thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in the afternoon or evening over Benue, FCT, Kogi, Nasarawa and Plateau States.
In the southern region, NiMet said cloudy conditions will prevail in the morning with isolated light rains over parts of Enugu, Imo, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
It added that moderate rains from isolated thunderstorms are expected later in the day over Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
For Wednesday, the agency forecast sunny skies over the northern region in the morning, with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Adamawa States.
It also predicted isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains later in the day over Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and Adamawa States.
In the North-Central region, NiMet said cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are expected in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains are likely over Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger, Benue and the FCT later in the day.
For the southern region, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected in the morning, while thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated across the entire region later in the day.
NiMet advised members of the public to take precautionary measures, noting that strong winds may precede rainfall in thunderstorm-prone areas.
It urged residents to secure loose objects, avoid driving in heavy rain, and disconnect electrical appliances during thunderstorms.
The agency also advised the public to stay away from tall trees, as falling branches may pose a risk during storms.
Airline operators were encouraged to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.
NiMet further warned that temperatures are expected to remain high, causing thermal discomfort, and advised residents to wear light clothing, stay hydrated, and remain in well-ventilated spaces.
