Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two major drug kingpins in Lagos and seized large quantities of narcotics prepared for export to Europe and other destinations.

The agency’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) apprehended Victor Nwosa and Felix Chika Obiegbu following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on their networks.

Nwosa, 64, who posed as a textile merchant, was arrested on September 17, 2025, at his home on Femi Kila Street, Okota, where 4.33 kilogrammes of heroin and 448 grammes of cocaine were recovered.

Obiegbu, a 49-year-old wine distributor, was arrested on September 11 at his residence on Shada Shonefun Street, Aguda Surulere, with 2.902 kilogrammes of methamphetamine seized.

The agency also reported major interceptions targeting drug traffickers and suppliers in several other states.

NDLEA operatives disrupted attempts to supply drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe. On September 27, officers arrested 26-year-old Baba Kaka Ibrahim at Njimtilo village while driving a Mercedes-Benz GLK with 39,380 tramadol and Exol-5 pills hidden in the engine compartment.

On the same day, Halima Adamu was intercepted along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road with 39 parcels of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis strain weighing 1.4kg. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of Habiba Muhammad at her home on Baga Road, Maiduguri.

In Kano, NDLEA officers arrested Aliyu Sani, 27, and Yahaya Tata, 26, along the Zaria-Kano road with 30,030 tramadol pills. In Bayelsa, three suspects: Friday Elebechi, 35, Tobin Godgift, 30, and Aya Clement, 30, were detained at Swali jetty, Yenagoa, with 12kg of skunk and 50 Diana AAA cartridges.

A 45-year-old ex-convict, Femi Owoeye, also known as “Do Good”, was arrested in Ikere Ekiti with 32kg of skunk and 10.5 grammes of tramadol. Owoeye previously served a three-year jail term for drug trafficking in 2016.

In Kaduna, NDLEA operatives arrested 56-year-old Adedamola Olayeni on September 22 at the Abuja-Kaduna tollgate with 404 blocks of skunk weighing 262.6kg in his vehicle. Another suspect, Zubairu Haruna, 30, was caught with 506 grammes of methamphetamine at a checkpoint, leading to the arrest of the receiver, Babangida Mohammed, 25, in Gombe State.

At Apapa in Lagos, officers seized about 85,100 tramadol pills and other opioids from Dauda Abubakar, Abdullahi Umar and Ismaila Muhammed on September 22. In Abuja, on September 23, 40-year-old Opeyemi Ogundipe was arrested with 2.1kg of Colorado on the Abaji-Gwagwalada Expressway.

In Edo State, NDLEA teams destroyed 12,115.6kg of skunk cultivated on 4.846 hectares of farmland in Uromi forest, arresting two suspects and evacuating 345.5kg of processed cannabis.

Another operation in Ogu forest, Igueben, resulted in the destruction of 12,031.245kg of cannabis grown on 4.438 hectares, with 106.1kg processed for evacuation.

On September 26, officers intercepted a truck along the Wareke-Auchi road in Etsako West carrying 82 bags of skunk hidden in charcoal, weighing 1,025kg. Two suspects, Kabiru Abdulahi, 35, and Anas Safiyanu, 20, were arrested.
