The Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) has announced plans to hold its 26th yearly Women’s Week, with the theme “Rooted in Faith, Rising with Vision: Muslim Women Transforming the World.” The celebration will run from Sunday, October 12 to Sunday, October 19, 2025, bringing together over 3,000 NASFAT women from across the world, both physically and virtually.

Speaking, its NASFAT Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Ganiyat Babalola, said the event would unite women across all NASFAT branches to celebrate achievements, promote Islamic values, and advance women’s empowerment.

According to her, the week-long activities will include programmes that cater to children, youths, and the elderly, ensuring inclusiveness. The event will open with a special prayer and Women Connect session with youth and children on Sunday at all NASFAT branches.

A trade fair will also hold on the opening day to showcase products from registered vendors, while chorale recitations, quiz competitions, and a folk fair will follow in the week.

On Monday, members will observe voluntary fasting and community outreach, donating essential items to orphanages and correctional centres. Tuesday will feature skill acquisition training on making bags, slippers, and throw pillows from leftover fabrics.

NASFAT will also hold a celebration of elderly and widowed members on Wednesday to support ailing and aged women who can no longer attend regular prayers. Thursday will feature an online missionary session, while Friday’s programme will include health screening, Qur’an recitation finals, and a special Jumu’ah service at the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque.

Saturday’s events will include a fitness walk and aerobics session to raise awareness on ending gender-based violence, aligning with the UN’s 16 Days of Activism campaign. A fundraising luncheon will also take place the same day at the headquarters.

Alhaja Babalola said the organisation aims to raise N500 million to build a new Women’s Development Centre, which will include a skill acquisition hub, a 50-bed hostel, and a transit home for female victims of gender-based violence.

NASFAT also seeks support for the completion of its Islamic Centre, currently 60 percent done, and is appealing for the donation of a mini-bus to support its humanitarian activities.

Health initiatives such as eye screening (in partnership with the World Health Organisation) and hepatitis B testing will also be part of the programme.

Beyond the annual celebration, Babalola noted that NASFAT’s new NGO Silver Lining for Women and Children Support Initiative will continue to champion women and children’s welfare through projects like scholarships for girls, start-up kits for trained women, and care for orphans and out of school girls.

She appealed to the government, corporate bodies, and the public to support NASFAT’s mission, saying:

“By supporting women, we are supporting the very foundation of a prosperous society.”

The week will end with a grand finale on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the NASFAT Islamic Centre in Aseese.
