President Bola Tinubu has emphasised that the newly commissioned N5 Arterial Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, will decongest gridlock around Lifecamp junction and its neighbourhoods.
He pointed out that with the opening of the road, traffic flow in districts such as Dape, Gwarinpa 1, Kado, Karsana, Idu and Mbora would significantly improve.
The president, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief George Akume, also commended Julius Berger for consistently delivering exceptional work.
He expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and stakeholders for contributing to the success of the project, as well as commending Julius Berger for their excellent work. He hailed Julius Berger as a reliable partner in the development of the FCT and the country as a whole.
He recounted his encounter with the Managing Director of Julius Berger, Dr Peer Lubasch, in Wiesbaden, Germany, which eventually led to a strong working relationship in Nigeria.
Wike shared how their initial meeting in Germany evolved into a lasting partnership when Lubasch assumed the role of the Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria.
The minister recalled their discussion about the Port Harcourt Ring Road project timeline and how Lubasch assured him that it would be completed in time for the President’s second-year anniversary.
He praised Julius Berger for its trustworthiness and commitment to delivering quality work even before receiving full payment. He expressed gratitude for their dedication in keeping their promise and assured them of the government’s support in extending the road project further.
During the event, the Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, reiterated the company’s dedication and history of delivering projects that meet international standards. He credited the successful completion of the N5 road to the company’s core values of professionalism, efficiency, quality, and excellence.
The Managing Director expressed gratitude to the FCT administration for their support and collaboration, emphasising the importance of strong partnerships in achieving record accomplishments like the N5 road project.
In addition to the Managing Director, key members of the Julius Berger team, including the Manager for Region North and Central, Oliver Berger, Project Manager, Johnny Houchan and the Region’s Project Coordinator, Dr. Ismaila Amodu were present at the commissioning ceremony.
