The Super Eagles are defending champions, having won all three previous editions of the tournament without defeat. Tonight, Eric Chelle’s side begin their title defence against a Zimbabwe side that has drawn each of their last three meetings with Nigeria.

Nigeria arrive without several key names. Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Paul Onuachu are all absent, with Chelle opting to use the tournament as a platform for new faces ahead of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
Seven players from the Nigerian local league have been included, alongside maiden call-ups for Femi Azeez, Arthur Okonkwo and Ovie Ejeheri.
Calvin Bassey is not part of this squad, but Alex Iwobi starts in attack alongside Terem Moffi, while Nnadi Tochukwu and Junior Ayobami anchor the midfield.
Zimbabwe arrive in confident mood. Kaitano Tembo’s Warriors beat Botswana in their most recent outing, and Marshall Munetsi is expected to drive them forward from midfield.
The winner advances to the final on May 30, where India or Jamaica await.
