Coventry City headcoach Frank Lampard has spoken about the availability of Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka ahead of their Championship-deciding game against Middlesbrough today, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Sky Blues on loan from Brentford after accruing just 88 Premier League minutes under Keith Andrews at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The loan deal has a clause that could make the transfer a permanent one, but on the condition that Lampard’s side would gain promotion to the English Premier League at the end of the season.

Lampard reveals Onyeka is raring to go

Onyeka was on the bench in Coventry City’s goalless draw against Oxford United but couldn’t play, largely because his wife was set to put to bed at any moment.

Now, he’s been cleared to make his debut tonight at the Coventry Building Society Arena in their must-win clash against Middlesbrough.

“He’s ready to go. He had a couple of days off; he had a baby last Monday. So, he’s trained with us, and he’s ready,” the former Chelsea coach said in his pre-match press conference.

“It was good to get him accustomed to our training before we talk about games, so he’s good to go,” Lampard concluded.

Onyeka also revealed he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get his new side over the line in their race for top-flight promotion.

“It’s a big game, Middlesbrough are top of the league, but for us, we’re focused on the game because whoever wins goes top of the league.

“We know it’ll be very intense, but we’ve trained well, and we’re ready. I can’t wait to do everything and give my all for the club, and also for the fans,” the ex-FC Midtjylland man concluded.
