The Kwara State Government has partnered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to support youth-led businesses.
In a bid to foster enhanced collaboration in supporting young entrepreneurs and driving economic growth, the Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development, led by the Commissioner, Ndanusa Shehu, paid a courtesy visit to the CAC office in Ilorin on Monday.
According to a statement by the Assistant Press Secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development, Oluwafemi Samuel Adeoye, the commissioner said the purpose of the visit was to focus on empowering young entrepreneurs by easing business registration, providing mentorship, and ensuring youth-led businesses comply with the required regulations and policies.
Adeoye stated that Amb. Ndanusa noted that the ministry would partner with the CAC to create opportunities for youths in the state, particularly in business registration, access to regulatory support, and capacity-building initiatives.
“We seek to partner with you to simplify the process of formalising youth-led businesses, providing mentorship, and encouraging compliance with business regulations to promote sustainable entrepreneurship,” Ndanusa said.
“This engagement will reflect the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, job creation, and economic development.”
According to the Director of CAC, Tunde Adeoti, the commission has been engaging with state ministries, parastatals, and agencies to collaborate and educate youths on business registrations.
He highlighted the importance of youth participation in the formal economy and assured that the commission would explore ways to provide technical support, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building programs tailored toward young entrepreneurs.
Adeoti stated that there were numerous benefits people could gain from the government when they register their businesses with the commission to become legal entities.
He stressed that the Federal Government was interested in formalizing informal businesses, helping them grow and stabilise, which could attract foreign investors for partnerships.
Also present at the meeting were the Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply of the Ministry, Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilola Adenike Ajide; Director of Youth, Alh. Abdulsalam Akeem; Assistant Director of Administration, Mr. Sikiru Aminu; Assistant Director of CAC, Mrs. Mujidat Bashar; and Principal Youth Development Officer, Mr. Taofik Zubair.
