Several Super Eagles stars have reacted to Kelechi Iheanacho‘s Scottish Cup victory with Celtic against Dunfermline Athletic at Hampden Park yesterday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 29-year-old was instrumental in the Hoops’ run-in towards the SPFL title, and came off the bench yesterday evening to score Celtic’s third goal.
After the game, Iheanacho shared images of his Scottish Cup celebrations on his social media page, and several Nigerian players sent in their congratulatory messages.

Former Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanozie lauded the former Manchester City striker, commenting, ‘Massive. Congratulations, senior man.’
Super Eagles and Besiktas midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who also congratulated Semi Ajayi on his return to the English Premier League, also chimed in ‘Congrats seniorman ‘.
Iheanacho’s 2013 FIFA U-17 teammate Taiwo Awoniyi responded ‘Onye ball ‘, while ex-Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong also commented, applauding the ex-Sevilla man.
Ogenyi Onazi, Jamilu Collins, Habib Makanjuola, Moses Simon and Daizen Maeda all congratulated the one-time FA Cup winner.
Meanwhile, outgoing Celtic coach Martin O’Neill admitted Kelechi Iheanacho has now cut a cult-hero figure among the fans and players of the club.
“We’ve made substitutions in some games that’s turned the page for us as well.
“Iheanacho has become a cult hero now! A very fine footballer, you can tell by his career,” the 74-year-old said in quotes revealaed by Sportscene.
Iheanacho’s contract runs out this summer, but Celtic holds the option to renew for another year.
