Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has come under fire for his performance in his side’s 1-4 loss to Samsunspor three days ago, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old set up Yunus Akgün’s opener inside nine minutes at the Samsun Yeni 19 Mayıs Stadyumu last Saturday, but Thorsten Fink’s side turned the game around swiftly.

A first-half double from Chad striker Marius Mouandilmadji cancelled out Galatasaray’s opener, and Senegal’s Cherif Ndiaye added a third for Samsunspor in the 57th minute.

Sinan Engin faults Osimhen’s attitude in Galatasaray’s loss

Cherif Ndiaye grabbed another for Samsunspor in the 82nd, but it was after Victor Osimhen played a huge part in sending his goalkeeper, Günay Güvenc, off.

The former Napoli man chested a long ball from the back, but the control was crisp, and he passed the ball back to his goalkeeper to regain control of the ball. The pass was a poor one, and Guvenc ended up handling the ball outside of the 18-yard box.

Osimhen was livid at the entire situation, and Engin, who won the Turkish Super Lig once with Besiktas, was bemused by the Nigerian’s attitude.

“Osimhen is not bigger than Galatasaray. He played brilliantly during his loan spell, I admired him. But now he’s arguing with the referee and his teammates,” the 61-year-old said on the  Beyaz Futbol channel.

“He’s playing incredibly carelessly. How can he pass to the centre-back? What kind of complacency is that my friend?

“Today, the Galatasaray team may have played with the wrong defensive setup, they may have left themselves exposed,” the former Besiktas coach concluded.

Galatasaray’s loss to Samsunspor brought Fenerbahce back into the Super Lig title race, although Okan Buruk’s side are still four points clear at the top of the table.
