The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode  Egbetokun, has congratulated 26,122 officers of the Nigeria Police Force recently promoted to various ranks, describing the exercise as a recognition of merit, professionalism and commitment to national service.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the IGP said the promotions were “well-deserved” and reflected the beneficiaries’ dedication and sustained performance.

He noted that the advancement also comes with higher expectations, stressing that the promoted officers must uphold leadership, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

In the statement, the IGP said the promotions “signify recognition of merit and performance, while also placing greater responsibility on the beneficiaries to uphold the highest standards of leadership, discipline, and service.”

Egbetokun also expressed appreciation to the Police Service Commission for approving all the promotion recommendations submitted by the Force leadership.

He acknowledged the Commission’s commitment to merit-based progression and due process, noting that continued cooperation between the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force remains critical to boosting morale and operational effectiveness.

The statement added that the IGP “stressed that the continued synergy between the PSC and the Force is fundamental to strengthening morale, enhancing competence, and improving operational effectiveness across the policing system.”

Meanwhile, Egbetokun reaffirmed the resolve of the Nigeria Police Force to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at improving internal efficiency, strengthening public trust and enhancing collaboration with national and international partners.

He assured Nigerians and the international community of the Force’s commitment to professionalism, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of lives and property.
