Samuel Chukwueze’s future remains a top talking point at AC Milan, with uncertainty surrounding whether the winger will remain at the club beyond this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chukwueze joined the Rossoneri from Villarreal three years ago. However, following a difficult start to his Italian stay, the club sent him on a season-long loan to Fulham.

During his time in England, he showed flashes of brilliance in the first half of the season but saw his form decline after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

Across 25 appearances for Fulham, the 27-year-old contributed three goals and four assists. Despite these contributions, Fulham have been hesitant to pursue a permanent deal, resulting in the winger’s return to Milan.

His future now hangs in the balance under new head coach Rúben Amorim. The former Manchester United boss is known for his no-nonsense tactical approach and is known to swiftly sideline players who struggle to adapt to his preferred 3-4-3 formation.

How Samuel Chukwueze Can Adapt to Amorim’s Plans

Rúben Amorim is expected to reshape AC Milan to fit his specific tactical identity. And of course, those who do not fit his vision will be deemed surplus to requirements.

To secure his place in the squad, Chukwueze may need to reinvent himself, potentially transitioning into a right wing-back role. Amorim notably employed a similar shift for Amad Diallo at Manchester United, and given Milan’s current lack of depth in that position, Chukwueze could be an internal solution.

This would be a significant adjustment for the former Villarreal man, as he has never played the position professionally. Playing well in that role would need a higher degree of tactical discipline, sharp positional awareness, and a significant improvement in his defensive contributions.

Chukwueze might look to former Super Eagles teammate Victor Moses as a blueprint. Recall that Moses successfully transitioned into a similar role under Antonio Conte at both Chelsea and Inter Milan.

If Chukwueze can master these new responsibilities, he has the potential to become a key player in Amorim’s revitalized AC Milan side.
