Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Dosu Joseph has backed Nigerian midfielder Afeez Aremu to make an immediate impact following his move to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen FC, Soccernet.ng reports.

Aremu recently completed a transfer from German club Kaiserslautern to Aberdeen in the January transfer window, becoming one of the Dons’ key midfield reinforcements for the second half of the season.

Reacting to the move, Dosu described the 26-year-old as a high-quality signing and expressed confidence that his qualities will suit the physical and tactical demands of Scottish football.

Why Afeez Aremu will succeed in Scotland

Dosu believes Aremu’s intelligence on the pitch makes him well-suited to the Scottish Premiership.

“Aremu is a talented footballer and very strong on the ball. He reads the game well and he’s a disciplined player as well. In addition, he’s creative and can bring stability to the midfield.” Dosu told Footy Africa.

The former Nigeria international added that the midfielder’s tactical awareness will help him adapt quickly to his new environment.

“He is a player with good football intelligence and I’m sure he’ll succeed in Scotland.”

What Aberdeen fans should expect

According to Dosu, Aberdeen supporters should expect a midfielder capable of controlling games and contributing both defensively and offensively.

“He can also shoot from distance, which is a strong asset, and he is very good with long passes. He’s an interesting player who can influence matches from midfield.”

Aremu’s ability to break up play, distribute the ball effectively and support attacks is expected to give Aberdeen more control in central areas.

Ex-Super Eagles star sends message to Aremu

Dosu concluded by wishing the former Akwa United star well as he begins a new chapter in his career in Scotland.

“I’m happy for him. He’s a great and very hard-working player, and may the land of Scotland be a blessing for him. Congratulations to everyone.”
