Leeds United are weighing up a January move for out-of-favour Nigerian forward Christantus Uche, as the 22-year-old’s frustrating spell at Crystal Palace edges towards an early end, Soccernet.ng reports.

Uche arrived at Selhurst Park on loan from Getafe in the summer, but the deal, structured with an obligation to buy should he make 10 starts in all competitions, has stalled badly.

With November coming to a close, the Super Eagles youngster has yet to start a single match for Oliver Glasner’s side. Reports in Spain suggest Palace are preparing to cut the arrangement short.

Spanish outlet AS reports that Getafe are open to taking the player back in January.

But Uche, despite being deeply unhappy with his bench role, could be convinced to remain at Palace. Still, the Super Eagles star is eager to revive the momentum of his brilliant debut season in La Liga and may be presented with a fresh lifeline in England.

According to CaughtOffside, Leeds United have emerged as a potential destination for Christantus Uche in January.

Leeds, battling for survival in the Premier League after Sunday’s 2–1 defeat at Aston Villa, are in urgent need of reinforcements.

They sit in the relegation zone and require an injection of quality, mobility and creativity in their final third. Uche, a versatile attacker capable of operating as a centre-forward, second striker, attacking midfielder or even as a central midfielder, fits that profile cleanly.

Christantus Uche: A second chance in England with Leeds?

The reports indicate that Leeds will prioritise a striker and a wide player in the January window, with Uche now considered a realistic option.

Palace had the opportunity to make the deal permanent for around €20 million, and Leeds are likely to have access to a similar pathway if they choose to pursue him.

For the player himself, the situation is becoming increasingly urgent. Uche is entering a critical phase of his development and needs consistent game time to re-establish the momentum he showed in Spain.

His performances for Getafe last season, marked by his intelligence, control, and an eye for goal, made him one of the standout under-23 attackers in La Liga.

Uche would likely jump at the chance to return to Getafe if Palace cannot give him a route into the starting XI. But Leeds’ interest offers a compelling alternative: regular Premier League football, a club with a clear need for his profile, and a stage on which his ambition could flourish.

The 22-year-old Nigeria international is currently valued at a career-high €15 million as per Transfermarkt.
