The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has dismissed claims by Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, that he belongs to the family entitled to produce the next Awujale of Ijebu land.

In a statement dated December 11, 2025, signed by family leaders including Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, and Prof. Fassy Yusuf, the ruling house rejected Ayinde’s lineage form, describing it as invalid and “of no consequence.” The family insisted that Ayinde is not a member of the Fusengbuwa or Jadiara royal houses and therefore cannot contest for the throne.

The stool of Awujale rotates among four ruling houses—Anikilaya, Gbelegbuwa, Fidipote, and Fusengbuwa. Following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona of the Anikilaya family in July 2025 after a 65-year reign, it is now Fusengbuwa’s turn to present candidates.

The family announced that nominations will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025, after which names will be forwarded to the kingmakers. The kingmakers are expected to select the next Awujale within seven days and submit the choice to the governor for approval.

Spokesperson of the Fusengbuwa Nomination Committee, Omooba Abiodun Ogidan, reiterated that Ayinde is not recognised as a family member. He noted that the musician had never participated in family meetings or contributed to the ruling house, accusing him of attempting to “rewrite history.”

The Oduneye family of Ijebu Ode also distanced itself from Ayinde, rejecting claims that he belonged to the Jadiara royal house. Alhaja Adesumbo Oduneye, speaking on behalf of the family, said the signatory of Ayinde’s lineage form, Adetayo Oduneye Eruobodo, was never the family head and had no authority to validate his claim.

Ayinde, who is widely associated with the Fidipote ruling house and holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebu land, has insisted in recent performances that he has roots in both Fidipote and Fusengbuwa families, making him eligible for the Awujale stool.
