Four Super Eagles’ players were in action in the London derby at Craven Cottage as Crystal Palace secured a 2-1 win over Fulham, Soccernet.ng reports.

Marco Silva’s men came into the game off a 5-4 loss to Manchester City during the week, while Oliver Glasner’s Palace secured a 1-0 win over Burnley.

The first 15 minutes saw both sides tussle for power as they looked to impose themselves on the game. While Fulham bossed possession, it was Crystal Palace who took the lead after 20 minutes.

A long ball from Nathaniel Clyne, who was starting his first game for the Eagles in over six months, found Tyrique Mitchell on the left flank.

The wing-back dragged the ball to Adam Wharton, who quickly played the ball into Eddie Nketiah’s path.

Super Eagles stars impress in Fulham’s clash vs Crystal Palace

Calvin Bassey played like he had a point to prove against Jean-Philippe Mateta tonight, constantly battling with the French forward and making sure the striker had nowhere to go.

Alex Iwobi played in a midfield pivot alongside Sander Berge, away from the more-attacking positions he’s used to.

However, a moment of brilliance in the 37th minute from the Super Eagles star led to Fulham’s equaliser. His pocket pass found Raul Jimenez on the edge of Crystal Palace’s box.

The Mexican striker exchanged passes with Harry Wilson before the Welshman scored a brilliant goal with the outside of his left foot, curling the ball past Dean Henderson to level the scores.

At the start of the second half, Samuel Chukwueze ran down the left flank before putting the ball into the box. Iwobi headed the incoming cross onto the crossbar before Emile Smith-Rowe tapped the ball home into an empty net.

However, the Cottagers’ joy was cut short after VAR confirmed Chukwueze was offside just before he put in his cross.

Prior to tonight’s clash, Christantus Uche had played less than ten minutes of football in the Premier League. Oliver Glasner sent the Getafe loanee onto the pitch in the 66th minute, and he came close to finding the back of the net in the 85th minute.

Mateta squared a low ball across the box, but a stretching Uche could only direct the shot straight at Bernd Leno.

Uche’s attempt led to a corner kick, which eventually resulted in the winner. Yeremi Pino’s corner kick was headed home by Palace’s captain, Marc Guehi.

Fulham flooded the attack after six extra minutes were added, but the reigning FA Cup Champions held on for three points. The win now sees Crystal Palace placed 4th on the English Premier League table, while Fulham are 15th.

Iwobi, Chukwueze, Bassey and Uche will now travel during the course of the week to join up with the Super Eagles of Nigeria to begin preparations for the AFCON 2025 tournament.
