The Louis Love Nest Foundation, through its flagship initiative, Project STEAM, has launched a free one-month training programme to promote access to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education across Africa.

The programme, which runs throughout October, provides participants from Ghana and other African countries with free courses in artificial intelligence, digital skills, business, and wellness. The sessions are designed to help young people, professionals, and entrepreneurs build relevant 21st-century skills and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the project, Chairman of the Louis Love Nest Foundation and Convener of Project STEAM, Ndali Modebe, said the initiative was created to democratise access to knowledge and bridge the learning gap in underserved communities.

“STEAM knowledge should not be a luxury reserved for a few — it should be a ladder for the many,” Modebe said. The training sessions, held every Monday and Thursday, cover a wide range of topics, including digital marketing, cybersecurity, branding, storytelling, sales, business growth, and engineering. In addition to technical learning, participants also receive preventive health education, with special emphasis on iodine sensitisation and wellness

For over eight years, the foundation has led iodine awareness campaigns across Africa, championed by Professor Ifeoma Modebe, a Public Health Physician and Chief Operating Officer of the foundation. She noted that the organisation’s commitment to iodine awareness continues the legacy of her late father, Professor Louis Ekpechi, a trailblazer in global iodine research and one of the founding figures of the International Council for the Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (ICCIDD).

This year, the foundation announced the theme for World Iodine Deficiency Day as “Nurturing Health with Iodine: Deficiency Prevention for All.” The campaign seeks to highlight the importance of adequate iodine intake in promoting brain development and preventing health disorders associated with iodine deficiency.

As part of its 2025 World Iodine Day activities, Project STEAM will extend its outreach to a prison and correctional facility in Ghana. The programme will include health education on iodine and general wellness, counselling, prayers, and the donation of essential items. It will also feature motivational talks aimed at encouraging rehabilitation, hope, and skills empowerment among inmates.

The foundation has called on individuals, organisations, NGOs, and corporate bodies to support its mission through sponsorships, donations, partnerships, and volunteer participation.

Project STEAM remains a vital part of the Louis Love Nest Foundation’s broader vision to promote free STEAM education, digital empowerment, wellness advocacy, and humanitarian service across Africa — sustaining the life’s work and legacy of Professor Louis Ekpechi in advancing public health and knowledge equity.
