An insurance firm has demonstrated its commitment to community development and social impact by supporting two orphanages in Lagos: Heritage Homes and Children Anchor Orphanage Home.
The company’s representatives delivered food items and essential supplies to the homes, reaffirming its dedication to improving the welfare of vulnerable children.
During the visits, Senior Manager of Head Office Marketing and South-South branches of Zenith General Insurance, Mrs Edith Agu, highlighted the importance of giving to the less-privileged and offering hope to those in need.
At Heritage Homes, founded 19 years ago by Pastor Ituah, the social worker in charge expressed gratitude to the Zenith team for the donations and emotional support.
According to her, the home depends largely on donations and individual sponsors to care for the children, adding that the visit could signal a sustained partnership.
“We are delighted because we see the prospect of continuity in this relationship,” she said. Similarly, the Children Anchor Orphanage Home, established in 2020, also received supplies from Zenith. Its supervisor, Olajide Bankole, described the visit as a timely intervention, noting that the home, which caters to over 35 children, runs mainly on faith, goodwill and online appeals.
“We are really grateful. We are not the only orphanage, but you chose Children Anchor Orphanage Home,” he remarked. The Zenith team used the occasion to encourage the children, reaffirming the company’s values of empathy, care and resilience.
Head of Internal Control and Audit, Muyiwa Aderibigbe, said the outreach underscored Zenith’s identity as a business committed to restoring hope.
“This activity speaks to one of our core values. We want you to stay alive because our business is known for restoring hope that joy is coming,” he told the children.
Despite economic pressures, the company reiterated its stance that corporate bodies must remain socially responsive. Agu advised that organisations should make deliberate budgetary allocations for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that have a direct impact on communities.
Aderibigbe added that meaningful corporate citizenship goes beyond profit-making.
“We urge other organisations to join this train of making an impact in society and touching people beyond just profit,” he said.
