
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed has presented Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident cheques totaling N30,845,424.03 to families of deceased police officers of the Command.
The presentation, which took place at the Nasarawa State Police Command on Wednesday in Lafia, the state capital, was aimed at providing financial relief and support to the bereaved families of officers who lost their lives in the course of service to the nation.
While presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of Police appreciated the Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu for the kind gesture and continued commitment to the welfare and well-being of police officers and their families.
Jairo said, “The payment of the benefits demonstrated the Nigeria Police Force commitment to supporting families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
“I want to urge the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the funds and, where possible, invest the money in profitable and sustainable businesses that would provide a source of income and improve their standard of living,” the CP said.
He also urged them to manage the funds responsibly, emphasising that the gesture should serve as a means of strengthening the economic well-being of their families and securing a better future for their children.
One of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of the others, Edith Jacob expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, for the timely intervention and welfare support extended to them.
She pledged that they will make good use of the money to improve their livelihoods.
