Former Chelsea and Spain forward Alvaro Morata has explained the quality that makes Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen different from other forwards, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has established himself as one of the best strikers in world football over the last few years following his impressive performances for both club and country.

The Nigerian striker initially joined Galatasaray from Napoli on loan in the summer of 2024 before making his move permanent for €75 million in the summer of 2025, becoming the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.

Osimhen has featured in four games so far this season and has scored six goals across all competitions. His goals include braces against Corum and Erzurumspor, as well as strikes against Goztepe and Istanbul Basaksehir.

His latest goals have taken his Galatasaray tally to 65 goals in 78 appearances across all competitions and he has also played an important role in the club winning two consecutive league titles and one Turkish Cup since joining them.

The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Galatasaray during the summer, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid and several of Europe’s biggest clubs reportedly interested in his signature. However, Osimhen eventually remained at Galatasaray and has continued where he left off.

Morata played alongside Osimhen at Galatasaray during the 2024-25 season after joining the Turkish giants in January 2025. The pair helped the club win the league title, and the Spaniard has now revealed what stood out to him about the Nigerian striker during their time together.

Speaking in an interview with Sport TV, the former Chelsea striker described Osimhen as one of the top three strikers in world football and explained what makes him different from other forwards.

“Victor Osimhen is really, really a great guy. Victor is a legend. He’s a very funny person. He’s constantly helping everyone. What a guy! He’s truly a wonderful person and one of the top three strikers in the world for me”, Morata said, via Forza Cimbom.

“I really enjoyed playing with him. Sometimes I remember playing behind Victor. It was like, ‘Kick the ball into space, I’ll score the goal.’ I think he’s one of the best in the world.”

Osimhen is currently dealing with an injury after he was withdrawn during Galatasaray’s clash against Istanbul Basaksehir last weekend.

The Super Eagles striker pulled up with the injury during the game and is expected to miss Galatasaray’s next few matches as he works his way back to full fitness. He will also be hoping to return to action as soon as possible, especially with Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign set to begin later this month.
