Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi suffered a knock in Besiktas’ 3-1 win over Kocaelispor in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday, prompting fears that he might have sustained a serious injury, Soccernet.ng reports.

Over the last few years, Ndidi has become more injury prone, as he has suffered more injury problems.

Just this month, he suffered a hamstring sprain which kept him out of action for two weeks and made him miss two games for Besiktas.

However, he returned to action last week in Besiktas’ game against Kayserispor. He also featured for the club in their Super Lig game against Kocaelisapor at the Tupras Stadium.

The Super Eagles star had a solid performance, but he had to be taken off in the 78th minute, as he was visibly struggling.

That prompted fears that could be up for a spell on the sidelines, and that would be a big blow for Besiktas. It could also affect Eric Chelle’s squad selection for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers next week.

Is Wilfred Ndidi Really Injured?

Although Wilfred Ndidi suffered a knock against Kocaelispor, reports from Turkey indicate that the Super Eagles star has not sustained a serious injury.

His substitution was rather a precautionary measure from Besiktas to prevent any injury.

As such, Ndidi is still available for selection for Besiktas and the Super Eagles for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in October.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle will have to do without stars like Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Ola Aina.
