Effective project management is fundamental to the success of programmes and projects of government institutions towards achieving job creation, skills development and sustainable economic growth, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Mohammadu Dingyadi, has said.
The minister stated this while receiving a team from the Chartered Institute of Project Management of Nigeria (CIPMN), who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Dingyadi emphasised that the Ministry is open to fostering collaboration that promotes a sustainable economy and in alignment with the Federal Government’s renewed hope agenda.
“We believe that partnership with esteemed organisations such as yours can significantly contribute to our shared goals”, he stated.
The Minister told his visitors that the ministry is charged with the responsibility of formulating and implementing policies aimed at promoting fair and balanced employment practices, safeguarding workers’ Rights and fostering harmonious labour relations.
The Minister explained: “We also oversee employment generation initiatives, skills development programs, and implementation of laws that will ensure social justice and economic stability. It also extends to enhancing productivity through workforce development and ensuring that Nigeria remains competitive in the global economy”.
Earlier, Dr Adama Muhammed, who led the CIPMN team, on behalf of the Registrar, said the purpose of the visit is to seek collaboration with the Ministry on project management-related issues.
He added that the institute is aware of the ministry’s achievements in areas such as the skills training programmes, revenue generation, job creation and employment and policy framework.
He stressed that collaboration with CIPMN will open access to a worldwide and national network of professionals.
He added: “CIPMN came into existence in 2018 with an Act number 3 with gazette number 15 volume 105 signed in by the late President Muhammadu Buhari with the mandate to certify, train and collaborate with Project Managers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).”
