The Department of State Services (DSS) has cautioned Nigerians against dealing with one Barry Donald, a dismissed officer allegedly impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, the DSS said Donald had been engaging in fraudulent activities using the Service’s name to extort money from members of the public.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any dealings with him,” the DSS stated, warning that any form of business or personal transaction with the suspect could lead to financial or legal complications.

The Service urged Nigerians with information, complaints, or enquiries to contact it directly through 09088373515 or via email at [email protected].

Meanwhile, The Guardian recalls that the Niger State Command of the DSS recently expressed concern over the activities of fake journalists operating within the state.

During a courtesy visit by the state executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by its chairman, Abu Nmodu, the State Director of the DSS, Usman Ibrahim, warned that rising cases of impersonation and fraudulent practices threaten public trust and the integrity of professional institutions.
