Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal High Court in Apo, Abuja, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, admitted further evidence presented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the ongoing trial of former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye.

Agunloye is standing trial on a seven-count charge filed by the EFCC, which includes allegations of official corruption and the fraudulent award of the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project contract, valued at $6 billion, to Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited.

The newly admitted exhibits include an investigation report on the Mambilla project and a warrant of arrest issued against one Jide Sotinri. The court marked the documents as Exhibits EFCC R and S.

At Wednesday’s hearing, Agunloye’s lawyer, Adeola Adedikpe (SAN), applied for the temporary release of the defendant’s international passport to allow him travel abroad for medical evaluation.

Prosecuting counsel, M.K. Hussain, requested additional time to review the application and file a formal response.

Justice Onwuegbuzie adjourned the matter to Thursday, July 17, 2025, for hearing on the passport release application.
