The Cathedral Church of The Advent, Anglican Communion, today marked Palm Sunday in grand style, with the Primate of All Nigeria, His Grace The Most Reverend Dr. Henry Ndukuba, leading the early morning procession to mark the biblical event.
Palm Sunday recalls the story in Christian Scripture of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, greeted by people waving palm branches.
It is a reminder for Christians to welcome Jesus into their hearts and to be willing to follow him. The service on Palm Sunday also includes a reading of the Passion, the story of the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus. Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter.
The Anglican congregation stepped out on the streets of Life Camp to celebrate the event. They were seen in processions in parts of the city, waving palm fronds and singing “Hosannah in the highest.”
The Primate was sighted waving palm fronds and singing.
Thousands of the congregation, including members of the choir, participated in the long march, which was concluded with a holy service.
