AI-driven financial platform BMONI has officially launched in Nigeria, introducing a new approach to how Africans save, spend and build wealth.

The platform, designed for young professionals and small business owners, aims to redefine access to global financial tools by combining artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. With 22 patented biometric innovations, BMONI offers users secure, borderless banking experiences that merge local convenience with international reach.

BMONI allows users to open multi-currency accounts, save in US dollars, and use both virtual and physical Mastercard debit cards at more than 100 million global merchants. The company says its model eliminates traditional banking constraints while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

“Nigeria represents the beating heart of Africa’s tech revolution,” said Jørn Lyseggen, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BMONI. “Our mission is to equip Nigeria’s movers and shakers with world-class financial tools to participate actively in the global economy.”

Security at the Core
The platform’s architecture relies on its patented biometric authentication, end-to-end encryption, and partnerships with licensed financial institutions. Its minimalist interface is designed to make digital finance both secure and accessible.

“BMONI represents a new chapter for African fintech,” said Gbenga Oyebode, an adviser to the company. “It is tailored for the Nigerian market, built with respect, and driven by a vision for large-scale financial inclusion. The timing couldn’t be better.”

Global Experience, African Focus
Founded by Jørn Lyseggen, who also established MEST Africa and Meltwater, BMONI’s leadership brings a blend of Silicon Valley scale and African insight. The team operates from hubs in Nigeria, Ghana, Chicago, San Francisco, Norway and London.

“Nigerians today want more than banking — they want freedom, ownership, and opportunity,” said Ashwin Ravichandran, Head of Product at BMONI. “In a country where 70 percent of the population is under 35 and fintech transactions exceed ₦9 trillion monthly, BMONI provides smarter tools to earn, save and transact across the digital economy.”

Launch Events
BMONI’s launch week will feature a series of activities across Lagos, including a private event on Victoria Island and a partnership with Moonshot, Africa’s premier technology and innovation conference. The company will engage creators and entrepreneurs on how fintech can drive prosperity and inclusion across the continent.
